New robots at Chennai airport:
The Chennai International Airport is one of the busiest airports in India and it has been ranked fourth in passenger traffic. It has been located in Trisulam next to Meenambakkam,21kms from the city centre.To attract the passengers, the airport authorities have taken an initiative, introducing two new robotic staff.
The humanoid robots named Mitra was deputed inside the terminals on Wednesday for guiding the passengers. The two robots ,one being placed in the arrival and the other in the departure of the domestic terminal greeted the passengers and interacted with them on Independence day.
The airport authority officials told ,they would soon introduce these robots at the international terminals too,after seeing the response from the passengers.They also added that the robots are on a trial and very soon they would be programmed to guide the passengers to security check and gate terminals, in addition to greeting the passengers.
