New rule for online pharmacies

Health Ministry Vs Online pharmacies:

     The use of online pharmacies, otherwise called as  E-pharmacies has been a tremendous increase in the recent says.Though it is less than 0.5% of the retail pharmacy landscape currently ,it is growing at a faster rate.


      Therefore, the health Ministry of India has set certain rules for the sale of online drugs. The newly drafted rules insist the online pharmacies to be registered under Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and they should also obtain a trade licence from any state Government whish is applicable across India. The pharmacies can register with the Central Licensing Authority through the online portal of Central government.
        Moreover, the online pharmacies should maintain a health record of the patients and  medicines to be sold only when there is prescription.Also, there should be strictly confidentiality in the informations provided by the patients. Online pharmacy should maintain grievance redressal facility too. The sale of certain drugs like  narcotics, tranquilizers and psychotropic drugs are banned.
