India's first biojet fuel flight

Spicejet introduces biojet fuel flight:

         The Spicejet airlines has operated India's first biojet fuel flight.It was a Bombardier Q400 aircraft with biojet fuel, which took off from Dehradun and landed in the airport of national capital.The flight has been powered by 75%of air turbine fuel and 25% biojet fuel.



         The main advantage of using this biojet fuel when compared to ATF is, it reduces carbon emissions and helps fuel efficiency. The fuel has been developed by the Indian Institute of Petroleum,Dehradun and it is made from Jatropha crop. Around 20 people were in the test flight and it flew around for 25minutes.
          The Q400 can occupy 78 people.The Global Airlines body,IATA has fixed a target of one billion passengers to fly using this aircraft by the end of 2025. Presently, spicejet has 22 Q400 aircrafts and overall ,it operates 412 flights daily.
